Non-PC Based Products Bring Quality Video, Reliability, Interactivity to Digital Signage at Affordable Prices
Company Opens European Office to Oversee Sales of Full Product Line
Cambridge, UK, 28 April 2008. Roku, a leading provider of high quality products for the digital sign market, today announced that its full line of BrightSign solid-state media players is now available in Europe. BrightSign offers a simple and reliable platform for digital signage implementations in stores, museums and businesses.
“We’re excited to be expanding into the European market,” said Anthony Wood, CEO and Founder of Roku. “Digital signage is growing very rapidly in Europe, and we believe that BrightSign will be widely accepted as a quality, cost-effective digital signage solution.”
Roku is supporting its products in Europe with the opening of a Sales Office in Cambridge and the appointment of a network of resellers. The Roku office is headed by Pierre Gillet, Vice President of European Sales. Pierre has extensive experience in the digital video and signage business. Most recently he was the director of Sales and Marketing as well as Country Manager for Matrox Electronic Systems.
BrightSign Platform
Roku BrightSign media players offer the playback quality of a PC platform, and the ease of installation and use of a solid-state player. Specifically designed for digital signage applications, BrightSign is fully scaleable from a simple one-screen implementation in a small store to a multi-screen, multi-site managed installation. At the entry level, a media file is simply read from a flash memory card and starts looping playback as soon as the unit is switched on. For more advanced implementations, BrightSign offers interactivity via buttons, touch screens, mice, keyboards as well as multi-channel audio switching and scripting services. BrightSign players are compact and easy to use. Unlike PCs, they have no moving parts and no full-scale operating system, making them more reliable than other playback solutions.
BrightSign easily mounts to walls, shelves, or cabinets. It connects to both standard VGA LCD monitors and high-end HD displays, and comes loaded with other connectivity options such as component video, USB, analogue or USB audio, IR remote control, Ethernet and serial ports. With its solid-state design, BrightSign products are rugged and comply with global safety standards.
BrightSign products support industry-standard video, image and audio content including: MPEG, BMP, JPEG, PNG, WAV and MP3 formats, and features playlist support for looping displays as well as content scheduling to effectively target playback. The players can also be networked for remote content delivery and management via a LAN or the Internet. In addition, video walls are supported as well as dividing single displays into media zones to deliver multiple impressions simultaneously.
BrightSign Applications
The BrightSign products deliver quality digital signage solutions to enhance customer experiences in a wide range of businesses and applications. Retailers can optimise their marketing and advertising by using BrightSign as a platform for creative displays, revenue-generating advertising signage, and interactive product demonstration kiosks. Museums use BrightSign to spark curiosity through unique, interactive exhibits using quality video, push buttons and LEDs, all without complicated PC technology. Many more businesses also benefit from BrightSign’s ability to maximise digital signage performance easily and inexpensively, including displays for trade shows, and applications in hospitality, transportation, education and finance.
