Colorado and Minnesota Customers Can Realize Significant Cost Savings

Broomfield, CO –May 29, 2009: 42U (www.42U.com), a leader in data center efficiency solutions and services, today announced it has been selected as an approved study provider in Xcel Energy’s (NYSE: XEL) Data Center Efficiency Program. 42U will serve as a technical resource and advisor to Xcel Energy customers, as they seek to curb energy consumption, cut costs, and limit the environmental impact of their data center operations.

"Whether managers are interested in demonstrating green business practices or simply want to save money on energy bills, efficiency is the best place to start," said Xcel Energy program manager Ann Garbow. "Our studies can help identify energy saving opportunities in data center equipment, design and operational choices.”

Targeted at clients in Colorado and Minnesota, the Data Center Efficiency Program offers rebates for preapproved efficiency studies/projects and discounts for each kilowatt saved through efficiency improvements. As a participating provider, 42U will perform efficiency assessments that analyze energy use, recommend client-specific efficiency improvements, and quantify potential energy savings.

Throughout each engagement, 42U will work in concert with Xcel Energy clients to provide sound efficiency consulting, professional project management, and a winning business case to implement efficiency recommendations.

“Xcel Energy has put together a comprehensive efficiency initiative, and we’re thrilled to be a part of their Data Center Efficiency program,” said Alan Mamane, Founder and CEO of 42U. “The CapEx and OpEx costs of inefficiency can encumber any organization. We look forward to helping data centers improve efficiencies and bolster their bottom line.”

42U delivers a range of assessments designed to offer value to the full range of data center sizes. They are of two fundamental types: point-in-time and real-time. Managers of smaller, less volatile data centers benefit from the economical pricing and quick turn-around of the 42U Best Practice Assessment. Managers of larger data centers benefit from the real-time monitoring and instantaneous feedback on changes made on the data center floor from the 42U Real-Time Efficiency Benchmark.
